A standout in the award-winning Bushel and Berry® collection, the Peach Sorbet® Blueberry (cultivar 'ZF06-043') is a four-season showstopper. This compact, mounded shrub is prized as much for its ornamental beauty as its delicious fruit. In spring, the foliage emerges in a stunning palette of peach, pink, and orange before maturing to an emerald green. By summer, it produces an abundant crop of large, sweet blueberries with a hint of tropical flavor. As temperatures drop, the leaves transition into a rich, deep eggplant purple that often persists through the winter in milder climates. Its dwarf habit makes it the perfect "edible ornamental" for patio containers, low hedges, or small garden borders.

Plant Care

Will this plant thrive in your climate?

Make sure you live within USDA Zones 5-10 by checking our Grow Zone Guide.

Planting

Select a location with full sun and acidic soil ($pH$ of 4.5–5.5). Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball but no deeper. If your soil is alkaline, plant in containers or raised beds using a mix of peat moss and potting soil.

Pruning

Minimal pruning is required. In late winter or early spring, remove any dead, damaged, or spindly wood. After the plant is 3 years old, thin out about 1/3 of the oldest canes to encourage vigorous new fruiting growth.

Fertilizing

Do not fertilize at the time of planting. Once established, apply a balanced fertilizer for acid-loving plants (like those for Azaleas or Camellias) twice a year: once in early spring and again after the summer harvest.

Winter Preparation

In Zones 5-6, apply a thick layer of organic mulch around the base to protect roots. For container plants in cold climates, move pots to a sheltered, unheated area like a garage after they go dormant, watering only sparingly once a month.
