Brighten your landscape with the luminous glow of the Forever Goldy™ Arborvitae. This stunning evergreen stands out with its feathery, scale-like foliage that transitions from a brilliant chartreuse in the spring to a deep, rich gold in the autumn and winter. Unlike many other golden conifers that can scorch in high heat or fade in the cold, 'Forever Goldy' is remarkably heat-tolerant and maintains its vibrant hue year-round. Its compact, narrow pyramidal habit makes it an exceptional choice for modern landscapes, serving as a vertical focal point or a maintenance-free privacy screen.

Plant Care

Will this plant thrive in your climate?

Make sure you live within USDA Zones 4-8 by checking our Grow Zone Guide.

Planting

Select a location with full sun for the best color development. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Ensure the soil is well-draining; while adaptable, it prefers organic-rich loam. Water deeply immediately after planting to settle the roots.

Pruning

This cultivar naturally maintains a tidy, upright shape and requires minimal pruning. If shaping is desired, trim only the new growth of the current season. Avoid cutting into old wood, as it may not regenerate. Remove any dead or damaged branches as they appear.

Fertilizing

Apply a slow-release evergreen fertilizer in early spring before new growth begins. For established plants, a balanced 10-10-10 formula every 2-3 years is sufficient. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to weak, leggy growth.

Winter Preparation

Apply a 2-4 inch layer of mulch around the base (keeping it away from the trunk) to retain moisture and protect roots from freezing. In colder regions, a final deep watering before the ground freezes helps prevent winter desiccation (foliage burn).
