A brand-new way to love roses—on your plate! The Flavorette Pear'd® Rose transforms your landscape from merely viewable to deliciously edible. This sturdy, upright shrub produces a continuous abundance of soft pink, semi-double blooms that feature a unique, light pear flavor. Unlike finicky traditional roses, this cultivar is exceptionally disease-resistant, hardy down to USDA Zone 4, and does not require deadheading to keep blooming all summer long. Whether you are garnishing a summer salad, decorating a wedding cake, or looking for a low-maintenance flowering hedge, this rose delivers elegance and flavor in equal measure.

Plant Care

Will this plant thrive in your climate?

Make sure you live within USDA Zones 4-8 by checking our Grow Zone Guide.

Planting

Select a site with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Mix in compost or aged manure to enrich the soil and ensure the crown of the plant is level with the soil surface.

Pruning

Prune in early spring just as new buds begin to emerge. Cut the plant back by approximately one-third of its total height to encourage vigorous new growth and more blooms. Remove any dead or damaged wood at any time during the season.

Fertilizing

Apply a granular rose fertilizer in early spring. For maximum bloom production, you may apply a second round of fertilizer in late spring or early summer after the first flush of flowers.

Winter Preparation

In colder regions, apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch or shredded leaves around the base after the first hard freeze to protect the roots. Pull the mulch away from the stems in early spring as new growth starts.
