Imagine a clear night sky, but in your garden. The Starfield™ Hydrangea lives up to its name, producing a celestial "galaxy" of blooms that cover the plant from top to bottom. This reblooming powerhouse features stunning double-petalled flowers that shift in color based on your soil’s chemistry—vibrant pinks in neutral soil and deep blues or purples in acidic conditions. Plant Care

Will this plant thrive in your climate?

Make sure you live within USDA Zones 5-9 by checking our Grow Zone Guide.

Planting

Select a location with morning sun and dappled afternoon shade to prevent leaf scorch. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Amend soil with organic compost to ensure rich, well-draining conditions.

Pruning

As a reblooming variety that flowers on both old and new wood, minimal pruning is required. Remove spent blooms (deadheading) throughout the summer to encourage new flowers. Only prune dead wood in early spring once new growth appears.

Fertilizing

Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer (like a 10-10-10) in early spring. To influence flower color, use Aluminum Sulfate for blue blooms (acidic) or Garden Lime for pink blooms (alkaline).

Winter Preparation

In colder zones (Zone 5), apply a 3-4 inch layer of mulch around the base to protect the root system. You may wrap the plant in burlap during extreme wind or late spring frosts to protect emerging flower buds.
