Select a site with organically rich, acidic, and well-drained soil. While it tolerates various soil types, avoid locations with standing water. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep to encourage root expansion.

Prune in spring immediately after flowering is complete. This prevents the removal of next year’s flower buds. Focus on removing "suckers" (shoots growing from the base) and any dead or crossing branches to maintain its elegant vase shape.
