Select a site with full sun (6+ hours) and perfectly drained soil. In heavy clay, plant "high" by positioning the root ball slightly above the soil surface to prevent water from pooling at the crown.

Unlike other Buddleia, Mop Top™ blooms on old wood. Only prune immediately after spring flowering. Do not cut back in winter or early spring, as you will remove the upcoming flower buds.

Apply a granular slow-release fertilizer formulated for flowering shrubs in early spring. Avoid over-fertilizing with nitrogen, as this can lead to excessive foliage growth at the expense of blooms.

Hardy down to USDA Zone 4, this variety is exceptionally cold-tolerant. Avoid late-season pruning or fertilization to ensure the plant hardens off properly. Mulch the base in late fall to protect the root system.
